Something to Think About

In my quite time, today's reading from "Experienceing God, Day by Day" it speaks about obedience and waiting. It covered a whole lot of other things as well.

The main theme, "Obedience," is based on James 4:17 "Therefore to him who knows to do good and does not do it , to him it is sin." The author says it is never a minor thing to know God's will then make excues why we can't do it. He says, rationalizing and procrastinating are disobedence also. Even thought I can't actually recall a particular incident at this present time in my life, I am sure there were many, where I did rationalize and procraste mostly trying to decern if it was God voice. The author says " God's call is not to " make a decision" but to obey.
So if our thought is to good for someone then we should do it.

For me it is not the big things in life I have difficullty decerning ( however they do take some time) it is the little everyday things, like calling someone or speaking to some or even just waitng over a issue that is in my life. Mostly I think why we don't do these things, is because we are busy doing our own thing and being (selfish), another whole thing I have been thinking alot about these days. That was a rabbit tail.

Anyway, this little devotional goes on to say that, even waiting is sometime the call to obey. "God told King Saul to wait for the prophet Samuel , but instead of waiting he took thing in to his own hands. How many times do we do that?

This really spoke to me, because, many times I have found myself in that waiting stage, sometime even wondering what I am waitng for. I know very dear loved ones who are waiting for God to guide.
We seem to have this idea we have to do something. In this world where everything is so fast paced and instant it is so hard for us to wait for God's best for us, mostly because we want it now and in stead of waiting, we like Saul take things in to our own hand. Please do not missunderstand, there are time in are lives when waiting just seem to be a waste of time and we should be doing something, but even after we have done the thing we still have to wait. I am speaking about the times when you know God has called you to wait and you go ahead of God only to find yourself in a hard place. Waiting teaches us patience. To me this is one great characteristic of God.When I forget this God reminds. He is very patience with us and wants us to learn to be like him, but boy, is it hard sometimes.

Lord help me wait when you say wait and to act when you say act.
